Remington targeted the young boys market with their .22 caliber Model 6 falling block rifle, which was produced in the period 1902-1933.  This specimen, serial number 507036, shoots .22 short, long, and long rifle ammo.  The bore on the 24” barrel is bright and shiny.  The action is tight and crisp and the hammer holds solidly at half and full cock.  The barrel finish has a gray/brown patina, with much of the original bluing gone.  The receiver has a uniform brown appearance.  The color case hardening on the breech block is vivid, while the hammer’s case hardening has darkened.  A heavy coat of varnish was added to the wood.  There is a tight 3” crack on the right front side of the butt stock that starts at the rear of the receiver and extends back.  All in all, a nice example of an old starter rifle for boys in the pre WW2 era.  FFL required.
