This 6” barrel Colt double action US Army Model 1901 revolver is chambered for the .38 Long Colt cartridge. The bottom of the butt strap is stamped US Army Model 1901 along with the serial # 178812. It is martially marked with inspectors’ initials JTT and R.A.C. on the left side of the frame, along with the date 1902. R.A.C. is also stamped on the rear face of the cylinder and on the bottom of the right grip. The last four digits of the serial number are stamped on the cylinder release mechanism. Condition wise, the metal finish has worn to a silver/blue patina. The walnut grips look well used, and the left grip has some wood missing on its rear face. The bore is shiny, with strong rifling. Mechanically, the gun functions properly in single and double action dry operation.
