Antique London Gun Co. 12 Gauge Double Barrel Shotgun, Fine Damascus, Engraved, Used.  Circa 1890.  Serial Number 68396.  FFL Required.

32" barrels, bores are gray to dark with a lot of wear near the chambers.  Both barrels on the underside have blackpowder proof marks and both are marked as full choke.  Barrels have a full rib on the top that is entirely knurled, with a silver bead front sight, and the rib is marked "Fine Damascus".  The finish on the barrels is an uneven plum brown that is worn thin on the underside which allows the twist of the damascus to be seen.  Both barrels have spotty surface rust toward the chamber end and some light pitting.  Receiver, hammers, side plates, tang, and barrel release lever all a light gray patina with some spotty surface rust.  The triggers and triggerguard are gray with surface rust.  The receiver, hammers, side plates, tang, barrel release lever, and triggerguard all engraved.  The side plates are marked London Gun Co.

The walnut buttstock has a scalloped horn cap on the pistol grip and a checkered horn buttplate.  The buttplate shows a lot of wear and use and has chips and holes.  The grip cap has some small holes.  The pistol grip and wrist of the buttstock are checkered, which is still fairly crisp with some slight wear and dings.  Most of the original finish remains on the buttstock, and it has some scratches and dings but no cracks or chips.  There is an oval silver inlay on the bottom of the buttstock.  Checkered walnut forearm with metal fittings that have matching engraving and are an uneven dark gray patina with spotty surface rust.  Most of the original finish remains on the forearm and there are some light scratches and dings, but no cracks or chips.

There is some wiggle between the barrels and the receiver when the shotgun is fully assembled.  Nice shotgun "as-is," or worthy of a restoration project.  Condition Very Good Minus.  No FFL Required.
