The forearm has some light scratches. The buttstock has some scratches and dings, with a small chip out of the bottom edge of the pistol grip, and there is a hairline crack on either side of the buttstock just behind the receiver (one is 1" long and the other is 1-1/2" long). The breakdown action is tight and crisp, and the barrels fit snugly onto the receiver. There is a sliding safety just behind the thumb release on the top of the wrist.

According to information regarding Stevens Model 311A shotguns, no serial number was required until the Gun Control Act Of 1968. Before then the year of manufacture was determined by a letter and number in a circle located on the top of the receiver flat. This shotgun has an A in a circle and an E in a circle, but no number within either circle. The serial number 295058 is is pen engraved onto the underside of the right barrel, and again on the bottom of the receiver.

When disassembling this shotgun care needs to be taken, as there is a small part which fits between the forearm and the receiver, and which sets adjacent to the hinge pin, which will fall onto the floor and easily be lost. It does not permanently attach anywhere and does not appear that it ever did. Just so you know.

Condition Very Good Plus.
